Almighty father, you are the beginning and the end, the giver and taker of life, and you call us your friend, your sons and daughters. We are undeserving, and we fall short of a life in dedication to you. We struggle with our own humanity; temptation, greed, selfishness, jealousy, anger, pride, debauchery, envy, and all immoralities (Galatians 5:19-20). Forgive us! Tirelessly you seek us, to be in relationship with us. Your commands are simple; live a life in service to you, obey your commands, and love one another just as you have loved us. You have given us your word and we have read it, even memorized it, but, we struggle to make the connection from our head to our heart. Knowledge without action is without value. It is merely a dream. Help us to connect our head and our heart so that we may experience the leading and conviction of your Holy Spirit and bear lasting fruit. Make your dream a reality in us!
I am thankful for rest, for the most basic of tasks are more challenging when the mind and body are unrested. I rise today refreshed and energized with a clear mind and a willing heart. I dedicate my day to you. May I (we) demonstrate the fruits of the spirit in all my (our) actions and in my (our) entire existence; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Be with those in need, who lack in the fruits of the spirit or are encumbered by their own humanity. Release within us an abundant spirit to serve others. -Amen
