HR Payroll & Benefits Specialist

SUMMARY

We're looking for a detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team and embody the Kenkijin Spirit—someone who thinks independently, commits to quality, and helps turn our aspirations into reality. This role focuses heavily on payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR compliance, serving as a critical backbone for our HR operations. You'll ensure accuracy in payroll, manage employee benefits, maintain compliance with employment laws, and support the full employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Payroll & Benefits
  • Process bi-weekly payroll with zero-error accuracy
  • Administer employee benefits including enrollment, changes, and terminations
  • Manage FMLA and other employee leaves
  • Reconcile benefits invoices and manage monthly/annual 401K reporting
HR Administration
  • Support internal employee events and engagement initiatives
  • Maintain HR documentation including I-9 forms and personnel files
  • Manage HRIS data in ADP Workforce Now
  • Serve as backup for HR Generalist functions
Compliance & Policy
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, EEO)
  • Support handbook and SOP reviews
  • Maintain multi-state tax law compliance
Reporting & Analysis
  • Generate ADP reports and safety reports
  • Create employee lists for external requests
  • Maintain data accuracy across all HR systems
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of payroll and benefits processing experience
  • HR document management experience
  • Self-insured program experience preferred
  • Payroll taxes experience preferred
SKILLS
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now
  • Advanced Excel skills for data reporting and Office 365 proficiency
  • Strong English proficiency (reading/writing)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred
  • SHRM or PHR certification preferred
